Welcome to the Roll out of the JORVA officer web site.
Updated on 5/30/2005
Main Page:     The features of this web site have been constructed per the needs
of the JORVA organization a the time of it's development. The general features
provided by this site include the following.
There is a secure officer portion of the website. You may notice
that there is a lock icon displayed on the tool bar or status bar of your web
browsing application, you may also get a dialog box indicating you have requested
an encrypted page (depending on which browser application is being used and it's
settings). This means that the data being transferred between your computer and
the web server has been scrambled making it very difficult for anyone monitoring
Internet traffic to view what is being sent or received. (NOTE: You also may
notice a security error or warning that security certificate name does not match
the name of the website. This is a result of using the shared SSL (Secure
Sockets Layer) service provided as part of the Internet service providers package.
The officer portion of the website is also restricted to
authorized users. It is not accessible to the general public. Anyone wanting
to gain access must be granted a User ID and password by a site administrator.
Users will only be allow access after providing correct authentication
(User name and password).
The functionality provided by the officer portion of the website
includes the following. The facility for a user to change his/her password.
(NOTE: Administrators do not have access to your password, therefore if you
forget your password you will need to have an administrator reset it before
you can log in.) There is also multi topic message board where users can post
messages to convey information for such activities as sharing ideas,
planning events or providing organization status.
There is also an administrative section which can only be
accessed by website administrators. This section of the website allows
administrators to; add new users, reset a users password, remove a user
and to view a list of current users. It also allows administrators to create
a new topic for the message board.
This site was constructed in order to fulfill some of the
following requirements of the developing JORVA organization. Provide a means of
exchanging ideas and information amongst position holding members of the
organization. The system is to provide a secure, private, efficient and an
easy to use method of communication. Due to the status of the organization
there is no funding available for the development and maintenance of the system.
Therefore all resources including; hardware, service providers, system
development efforts and system maintenance effort must be done on a
charity/donation basis.
Due to the requirements of project there are limitation and
restrictions of the system. The one noted above regarding the warning when
logging in, which results from the use of the service providers shared SSL
service and not paying for our own. Also because we are using KIASAP's systems
donated sub domain we need to be conscientious about our use of system resources.
You may have noticed that there is a lack of pictures, animated objects and the
like on the site. This was done intentionally to limit the use of storage space
as well as reduce the utilization of bandwidth. Although this does have the
benefit of making the interaction with the site faster for those who do not have
high speed Internet access. Due to the limited resources for the development of
the system it does not have the professional look and feel of many other websites
nor does is have the cleanest implementation. A final note regarding limitations,
the individual message boards (topics) may be deleted or converted to a static
page (you will no longer be able to be posted additional messages) if it they
are not being actively used.
The future existence and development of this site will depend on
the utilization, needs and the availability of resources to do so. Features such
as a user database that would contain names, addresses and contact information
of JORVA members and associates are under consideration. Development of this
functionality continues as time and resources permit.
In conclusion, I hope that this system will facilitate the
development of the JORVA organization and there endeavor to promote sport of off
road vehicle riding in the state of New Jersey.
PS I would like to take the opportunity to thank those who have
donated there time, effort, and expertise in the support and development of this
system.
